A Foundation of Local Origins, a Rich History in Fellowship |

In 1812, our young nation was at war with the British. The British navy controlled Lake Ontario, but our Founders nevertheless congregated and formed our Church. In 1834, a building constructed of lake stone was built at the site of our current Church. In 1866, after the Civil War, a new brick church was constructed on the same foundation as the first. Even though additions and renovations have been made throughout the years, you can still see the old stone foundation in the basement. In the summer, it was customary for worshippers to ride in from surrounding towns and farms and arrange their horse-drawn wagons (Now today’s “horseless carriages”) facing the outdoor pulpit, on a gazebo, for our tradition of the summer “drive-in service”. This tradition continues from June through September, when worship is held outdoors. It hasn’t rained during outdoor worship since anyone can remember.

The Grace of Forgiveness If you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you; but if you do not forgive others, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. Matthew 6: 14-15 (NRSV) |
